About Me

Welcome to another school year at St. Francis of Assisi! I am looking forward to teaching and being a part of your child’s Grade 3/4 school year experiences. I have been teaching for about 20 years, mostly with the Ottawa Catholic School Board. My first teaching assignments ranged from an isolated northern Quebec, a Montessori school, and a school for students having very serious needs. My wife Eve and I have two boys. Olivier is 11 and Emile is 13 years old. My motto is "See the tree in every acorn" because students remind me of how that tiny acorn that may get overlooked has the potential to grow into the mighty oak. If we believe in students and nurture that excitement of learning, there's no telling what mighty oaks they may become!

(see previous Student Spotlights below)

SECRET QUESTIONS

Write to Mr L your answer in Classcraft or hand in his mailbox the  for XP!!!

LAST GRADE 3 and 4 SECRET CHALLENGE QUESTION
40 days of Lent is six full weeks (with six days of fasting... in each week) plus four extra days—Ash Wednesday and the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday that follow it because the Sundays are not counted. Six times six is thirty-six, plus four equals forty. And that's how we arrive at the 40 days of Lent!

THIS GRADE 3 and 4 SECRET CHALLENGE QUESTION
Name 5 types of art (eg impressionism)

AND OUR WEEKLY
SENTENCE STRETCHLETICS
WINNERS ARE . . .

(NO WINNERS DUE TO SNOW DAYS)

Our Class sampled works by the likes of  Louise Boureois who designed the spider outside the National Gallery, Van Gogh, Monet, Benjamin West.

Perspective, primary and secondary colours, the Renaissance, shades and backgrounds, forms and shapes were discussed.

Our class has debates from time to time, called "Choose Sides", where students physically go to one side or the other according to their belief. This week we debated should children have the choice of how much TV or candy they have. One side was the most charismatic, but the other had the best supporting arguments and won!
